After a decade of promoting live events as Entertainment Director at the Minnesota State Fair, Chris crossed over and worked eight years in a production management/sales role in Minneapolis. During his years on both sides of the production Desk, Chris honed a rare skillset and emerged a sought-after, effective technical production manager. From budget to load out, offer to settlement, and design to logistics, Chris is known for steady and effective management with remarkable outcomes. Chris is a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he participated in two varsity sports for the Gophers and was Captain of one of his teams in 1985-6. Not only did Chris serve on the Board of the “M” Club at the University, but he was also the Board of Directors of the International Entertainment Buyers Association. He honorably served his community as a firefighter for 18 years, and his most important job is being the proud father of two adult daughters and resides in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Growing up in Austin, Minnesota, Josh spent his free time playing soccer and aspiring to one day become one of the Mythbusters. He landed just north in the Twin Cities at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a marketing degree from the Carlson School of Management. During his tenure, Josh spent three years at TCF Bank Stadium, learning the ropes of crew supervision, asset management, extensive event preparation, and game-day operations. This experience brought the realization that sitting at a desk 8 hours a day would not cut it when he graduated. Fortunately, his time at TCF Bank Stadium also connected him with Chris Tahti, founder of BirchTech. Chris brought Josh on board in November of 2013 and sealed the deal, making him an official employee in February of 2015. When he’s not busy leading a crew or managing an event, Josh likes nothing better than unwinding on the couch watching Minnesota sports.
Sammie Jo McGuire
While Sammie Jo is the latest project manager at Birch Tech, she has been a vital member of the team since 2015. For two years, Sammie has been managing the Birch Tech crew at TCF Bank Stadium during MN United home MLS soccer games. Growing up, Sammie always loved to be behind the scenes. Throughout her high school years, she successfully served three sports as a team manager for three years. Fast forward a few years later, Sammie had transferred her second year from the University of Iowa to Hamline University to pursue a major in sports and recreation management. Within the first month of returning to Minnesota, she joined Birch Tech’s operations crew for Vikings games as a supervisor. During the following year as she was exposed to a wide array of events, Sammie grew to love the fast-paced live event industry. Additionally, Sammie has developed proficiency in the technical aspects of live productions from systems integration to operation at the tech table. When Super Bowl LII came to town, Sammie directed a crew to set all signage for Super Bowl Live on Nicollet Mall. Sammie’s other interests include volunteering her time with the 2016 PGA Ryder Cup, Special Olympics, Merrick and Women’s Advocates of Minnesota.
Odin is the heart and soul behind the company. His presence alone keeps the team at ease and well motivated to complete any task in a seamless manner. Odin’s extraordinary work is rewarded with walks around the lake, scratches behind his right ear, and tasty treats at the end of each day.
